SRFC and the World Rugby Museum

I have mentioned in a number of blogs the fact that we are lucky to have one of the most complete club archives in the country. For a decade the RFU's World Rugby Museum at Twickenham has hosted a site dedicated to researchers across the world who are interested in sharing their stories. When put together these help us to get a better picture of the development of rugby in general. Across the years SRFC has made a significant contribution to the site with at least 19 entries and more to follow. The ones specifically related to the club ( 13 in all) are easy to access. Go to

Scroll down right a very short way past the first picture to 'browse all categories' and toggle to 'Club Rugby'. At the bottom of page one you will see links to 8 pages of articles. SRFC has 4 articles on each of pages 2,3 and 5 and one on page 4. On page 3, for example, you will find a link to an article on Eric Watts Moses whose home on Ashbrooke Mount overlooked the ground. His story is a most interesting one and some 1873 members may remember him - (his pic accompanies this article). I will link to the other 6 articles in a future blog. Meanwhile if you have any suggestions or comments please get back below or on our 1873 WhatsApp site. I am very encouraged by the interest shown so far.
