While sorting out my online photo archive recently I came across correspondence I had a little while back with local man Philip Darling. His father who died in the 1980s, had been a keen photographer and sports' fan and Philip sent me copies of some photos his dad had taken of rugby and cricket at Ashbrooke in the 1960s and 1970s. I will dripfeed these over a few sessions and would love to have feedback on the faces folks can spot. I recognise one or two! Also, if you do not already know, the World Rugby Museum has honoured the club by publishing an article on one of the rugby lads on Remembrance Day this year. Billy Barker was a faithful club half back who was killed in the famous German push of 1918. You can find the article online at 'World Rugby Musuem' and 'From the Vaults'. Enoy the first of the Darling Pics!
