Baseball at Ashbrooke

Folks crossing Ashbrooke's grounds during school time will have seen the pupils from St Aidan's playing baseball ( or softball/rounders). The Ashbrooke archives reveal that baseball has featured as a spectator sport at the club on at least one occasion. In the mid 1930s the Yorkshire Baseball Association arranged for a demonstration of the sport but apparently with little success as the club suffered a loss of £50 as a result. However the game did leave our archive with two of its most splendid posters.
